WHERE TO STAY

San Rafael Hotels

AC HOTEL San Rafael

7 min drive to Ziggy's house

This is a new "boutique" Marriott hotel in downtown San Rafael. It's the nicest of the San Rafael options, because it is brand new and is also walking distance to restaurants and shops.

(Note: they have $20 overnight parking, but it's not guaranteed).

FOUR PTS SHERATON

6 min drive to Ziggy's house

This is just what you'd expect of a Four Points Sheraton in a residential neighborhood. You're close to Safeway,  bagels, ice cream, and Starbucks (so you can pick up Ben's coffee). The common spaces are nicer than the guest rooms, which are a bit dated.

EMBASSY SUITES

5 min drive to Ziggy's house

This is also just what you'd expect from an Embassy Suites. It's next to the convention center, so kind of in no man's land, but right next to the amazing Sunday Farmer's Market and very close to our house. The rooms are all suites and are modern/clean, the common areas are more like you're in town for a conference.

Other Marin Hotels

If you're more about the hotel than proximity to Ziggy, here are some other nice options (all distances listed are with no traffic):

CAVALLO POINT (25 min away in Sausalito)

Fancy option: a lovely resort that is popular for its spa, corporate and other events. Not close to anything else, beautiful views, restaurant on site.

THE INN ABOVE TIDE (20 min away in Sausalito)

On the water, in the heart of the downtown tourist part of Sausalito. Walking distance to food and stores (and tourists). Lovely rooms and views.

ACQUA HOTEL (12 min away in Mill Valley)

A modern hotel with views of both the bay and the freeway. Conveniently located right off the 101. This is pretty close to us when there is no traffic and also closer to SF.

MILL VALLEY INN (20 min away in Mill Valley)

If you want to be in the middle of charming Mill Valley, then this is the place to stay.

General Info

HOTELS: Marin isn't really known for its choice hotels, so options are a bit scattered. Read the descriptions above or contact Sondra for some input. The San Rafael hotels are all closest and in the same price range and the others are in more scenic locations and a little pricier.

TRANSPORTATION: it's probably best to rent a car, as Marin is not a huge Uber town. If you plan to catch a ride with someone else, you can take the Marin Airporter from SFO or Oakland. If you can fly into Santa Rosa (a tiny little airport), that's a nice option too. All airports are about an hour away from us.
